Steve Wulff

Steve Wulff

Guitar, Harmonica, Vocals

Born and raised in New Orleans, Steve began playing guitar while in high school. Although he focused on the electric guitar, playing in rock and roll and punk bands, Steve was always fascinated and drawn to the acoustic guitar.

Upon attending LSU, Steve became more interested in the acoustic guitar while taking influence from players and singers/songwriters Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Taj Mahal, Robert Johnson and the like. During his university days, Steve performed as an acoustic solo artist and as one half of the Swahili Lounge Lizards at local clubs.

After his time in Baton Rouge, Steve moved home to New Orleans where he became caught up in the local music scene and multitude of influences that make up New Orleans music: Caribbean beat, Delta blues, gospel soul. It laid foundation for Steve's eclectic musical tastes and style. Steve's most important musical opportunity was to befriend guitar virtuoso John Rankin who is still a great friend and mentor to Steve and the DeSoto Street Band.

Steve has been a member of the DeSoto Street Band since 2003 and loves every minute of it!
